Obituary for Marlene Nelson

Marlene Nelson, age 87, of North Mankato, handed away peacefully on January nineteenth at Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter, Minnesota.

 

Marlene Nelson, was born on October 4th, 1938 in Sioux City, Iowa. During her youthful years, Marlene was a baton twirler and led the University of Iowa band into the soccer stadium. She later would lead the greyhound canine racers into their beginning spots in Iowa. After graduating from faculty on the University of Iowa, she went on to get her educating diploma in Home Economics and taught in Hopkins, MN till she moved to Mankato to be together with her husband, Bill Nelson. Together they opened the Tastee Freez within the late 1960’s. Marlene employed, educated and made a gazillion gallons of potato salad and coleslaw over time till it was offered within the mid- 80’s. Despite being busy with the restaurant, she managed to seek out time to play playing cards together with her pals, golf, go to the on line casino, store, and luxuriate in being together with her household. Once in retirement, she would discover a new ardour for promoting and styling garments out of her home. Right after she had hip surgical procedure slightly over 2 weeks in the past, she was telling the nurses they needed to come as much as the home and take a look at her garments. 

 

Her biggest joys have been her son, daughter and grandchildren. She cherished to have her grandchildren go to and play playing cards and Bananagrams with them. She at all times had some form of present to present them though all they wanted was the present of her time spent with them. Her ultimate items have been the time she gave her household to say goodbye, and a double rainbow on the best way out the door.

 

She can be remembered by her household as “Nana” and because the “boss lady”. She at all times managed to seek out the appropriate individuals to be in her nook and assist her out when she wanted it. Seems becoming that she left this earth on her personal phrases. 

 

Marlene is survived by her daughter, Nicole “Nicky” Nelson, her grandson Liam and granddaughter Cozette, her sister Jackie, brother-law Dick, her sister-in-law Orie, nieces and nephews and lots of expensive pals. She is preceded in loss of life by her husband Bill, son Brent, her mother and father, her brother Bob and so many different family members.

 

The household needs to precise their gratitude to Visiting Angels, Benedictine Living Community and St. Croix Hospice for his or her wonderful care and assist. A particular thanks to all of her neighbors and pals who made it attainable for her to proceed to stay in her home till her fall.

 

The household could have a celebration of life in late Spring.
