TEMPE  –  Following its success at the Big 12 West Championships, Sun Devil Swim and Dive earned four weekly awards as announced by the Big 12 Conference Thursday afternoon.

Senior Andy Dobrzanski was honored with Men’s Swimmer of the Week, while junior Alexa Reyna was awarded Women’s Co-Swimmers of the Week, sharing the title with Arizona’s Julia Wozniak. Graduate Adam Chaney garnered his fourth weekly honor of the season, winning Newcomer of the Week, and freshman Albane Cachot earned Women’s Newcomer of the Week for the second time.

Chaney won both the 100 back (44.68) and the 200 back (1:41.46). He also helped ASU secure a first place finish in three relay events: the 400 free relay, the 200 medley and the 400 medley relay.

Dobrzanski placed first in the 100 breast, hitting the wall in 51.00, the second fastest time in ASU history. He also won the 200 breast (1:50.59) and helped in winning the 400 medley relay. He set personal bests in both breaststroke events, solidifying his spot as the second fastest breaststroker in program history, only behind four-time Olympic gold medalist Leon Marchand.

Reyna competed in both the 500 free (4:44.12) and the 1650 free (16:18.07), placing sixth in both events and earning 40 total points for ASU. She set the fastest time of all swimmers in both distance events.

For her second weekly honor of the month, Cachot won the 100 freestyle with a time of 48.32, setting the second best time ASU history. She won the 200 free (1:45.63) and placed second in the 50 free (22.44). Cachot helped the Maroon and Gold claim first in both the 400 free relay and the 200 medley relay.

The Sun Devils will head south to Tucson on Friday, February 6, where they’ll face off against in-state rival Arizona at 1 p.m. MST.
