Swimming and Diving ship robust efficiency in opposition to South Dakota

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving returned to the H&Okay Pool on campus on Jan. 23 for its senior day celebration. The males totaled 123.5 factors falling to South Dakota, which scored 177, whereas the ladies defeated the Coyotes 199.5-100.5.

The ladies have gained three straight competitions and now boast eight victories of their final 11 outings.

In the pool, the 200 medley relay of sophomores Danica Brunk (McPherson, Kan.), Ella Drewes (Eden Prairie, Minn.), Catalina Kahan (Los Angeles, Calif.) and junior Julia Thomas (Colorado Springs, Colo.) powered to a first-place end.

The Mavericks stored rolling within the relays, as Mason Zadina, Grant Schaeffer, Will McCabe and Michael Johnson took first within the 200 free relay.

Individually, Addisyn Storms delivered a dominant double, claiming the 100 and 200 breast, whereas Leah Spencer captured first in each the 100 and 200 free.

On the boards, Bella Price notched the highest spot within the 1-meter dive, and Brooke Robbins adopted with a first-place end within the 3-meter.

“This was another great meet for both the men’s and women’s teams,” mentioned head coach Jessica Hessel. “Collectively, we stayed focused on execution rather than outcomes, and as a result, the performances took care of themselves. The energy was high throughout the meet, and our athletes competed with determination and pride from start to finish. We were also grateful to honor our seniors and give them one last home meet, creating lasting memories as they start to close out their swimming and diving careers.”

” It was a great night of diving and an incredible way to send out seniors out,” mentioned diving coach Eric Sprague. “Samantha Klein and Bella Price have been instrumental in the growth of the program and everything we’ve been able to accomplish in recent years. Sam is putting together her toughest list as her career winds down and I’m very happy that Bella was able to win her final event in her last home dual meet. The women dove really well all day and watching Bella, Brooke Robbins, and Ava Snyder sweep the 1-meter event was impressive.  Our men dove at a very high level as well with Owen Kipp leading us with second place finishes on both boards and William, Stone and Brecken all placed and scored points for the team.  We’ll continue to clean up some small details as we finish up the year and head into Championship season. “
