Meanwhile, an ice storm warning for Saturday stated “damaging icing” is predicted with “up to one inch” of snow and sleet in North Carolina, South Carolina and northeast Georgia that will make “travel dangerous or impossible.”

“Significant ice accumulation on power lines and tree limbs may cause widespread and long-lasting power outages,” the warning stated. “Trees and large limbs could fall on structures, posing threat to life and property. Ice and snow covered roadways will become treacherous and impassable. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute. “

The warning continued: “Significant amounts of ice accumulations will make travel dangerous or impossible. Travel is strongly discouraged.”
