A love legacy
The theme for Madison College’s SOUL Affinity Group’s annual Dzigbodi Akyea Art Scholarship artwork exhibit is “She Carried Us: Legacies of Labor, Love and Liberation.” The exhibit is open by way of Feb. 27, with a gap ceremony on Thursday from 5:30 to eight p.m. on the Madison College Art Gallery, 1701 Wright St., Room A1005. The artwork exhibit is organized in honor of Akyea, a longtime faculty advisor.
“Here Lies the Truth,” introduced by Li Chiao-Ping Dance, runs Feb. 5-7.

Footage of 2020 protests backgrounds the dancers in “Here Lies the Truth,” introduced by Li Chiao-Ping Dance in Lathrop Hall, 1050 University Ave. “Here Lies the Truth” is a mixed-media dance piece. Live music, spoken phrase and cinematic projections mix with dance, which incorporates “personal accounts of discrimination and resilience.” Tickets price $25 for performances at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and a pair of:30 p.m. Saturday.

Lady Liberty emerges
Every 12 months, the Wisconsin Hoofers, UW-Madison’s outdoor membership, host dozens of chilly climate occasions throughout an annual Winter Carnival. From ice fishing classes to Disney-themed skate nights (and indoor actions for many who want a heat fireplace to a snowy wonderland), the carnival has occasions for winter adventurers of all ages. An ensemble of 16 native actors will inform tales of affection, loss and remorse in “C’est La Vie,” written by Gretchen Suarez-Pena. Madison Public Theatre presents this collection of vignettes about “the little things that make us all human” for 3 weekends in February, directed by Stephanie Monday. The present runs simply 90 minutes together with intermission on the Bartell Theatre, 113 E. Mifflin St. Tickets price $25.
