For an off-the-charts romantic vacation spot, {couples} can’t go unsuitable at six scenic New England places, in accordance with Travel + Leisure.

The publication launched an inventory of the most romantic place in every U.S. state and selected the next spots in New England:

Massachusetts: Boston Public Garden
New Hampshire: Ice Castles
Maine: Isle au Haut
Rhode Island: Mohegan Bluffs
Vermont: Scenic Route 100 Byway
Connecticut: Saybrook Breakwater Lighthouse

“Whether you’re popping the question, celebrating an anniversary, or just looking to spend some quality time with your significant other, the right setting is crucial,” wrote the publication. “To inspire you, we’ve rounded up the most romantic places across the country: scenic state parks with beautiful proposal-worthy backdrops, charming urban escapes for those looking to enjoy city sights, and quirky attractions where you’re sure to create lifelong memories.”

It doesn’t get far more romantic than the Boston Public Garden in Massachusetts, in accordance with the publication.

“You’ll see swans (both real and in sculpted paddleboat form) and plenty of scenery at this destination, which was established in 1837 as the first public botanical garden in the U.S.,” wrote Travel + Leisure.

Isle au Haut, one among Maine’s most secluded islands and a part of Acadia National Park, is ideal for {couples} in search of privateness, in accordance with the publication.

“Isle au Haut has a total population of under 100 people and requires visitors to ferry over on a mail boat,” wrote Travel + Leisure. “About half the island consists of national parkland, while the other half belongs to the community, complete with a few charming vacation homes.”

The Mohegan Bluffs on Block Island present “one of the most dramatic walks” in Rhode Island, in accordance with Travel + Leisure.

“The bluffs stand 200 feet above the beach and, on a clear day, provide views straight across the Block Island Sound to Montauk, New York,” wrote the publication. “After a stroll, check out the picturesque lighthouses that dot Block Island.”

Ice Castles, a large frozen attraction in North Woodstock, N.H., give off an “otherworldly glow” at evening, wrote Travel + Leisure.

“The frozen structures—which look like something straight out of a certain Disney movie—are built from scratch each winter, and come springtime, they melt away,” wrote the publication.

Vermont’s Scenic Route 100 Byway is greatest traveled within the fall, in accordance with Travel + Leisure, when guests can view the world’s iconic foliage.

“Take a leisurely drive down part (or all) of this 146-mile scenic byway, and be sure to stop by some of the charming small towns along the way, like Waterbury, Killington, and Stowe,” wrote the publication.

Finally, the romance meter is off the charts on the 1886 Saybrook Breakwater Lighthouse in Connecticut, in accordance with Travel + Leisure.

“Just the notion of a lighthouse—a beacon in the dark, maybe with a snug room inside—is romantic,” wrote the publication. “The best way to see it (from the outside only) is by renting a boat for two and rowing out into the Connecticut River.”
