Swimming & Diving Closes Out Boston Winter Open

BOSTON – The Boston University swimming & diving groups closed out their house schedule on Saturday with the ultimate two periods of the Boston Winter Open at FitRec Competition Pool.

Freshman Molly Barber and sophomore Cambria Jewett received the 100- and 200-yard butterfly races, respectively, in tune-ups for the Patriot League Championships. Barber received her race in 55.16 whereas Jewett posted a season-best 2:04.27.

On the lads’s facet, sophomore Giovanni Sullo received the 200 butterfly with the fourth-fastest time at school historical past at 1:47.97 whereas sophomore Abraham Lee jumped into the highest 10 for the 100 backstroke with a time of 49.40. That positioned him second within the race and sixth within the BU report books. 

Senior Jackson Hogue wrapped up his BU profession with a pair of season bests within the breaststroke, swimming the 100 in 56.32 earlier than clocking a 2:04.71 within the 200 for his last race within the night.

Sophomore Julijana Jellc closed out her season with a season-best 57.10 within the 100 backstroke within the afternoon session earlier than posting a 2:03.26 within the 200 backstroke within the night. She later swam a 100 butterfly time trial in 1:00.17.

Freshman Zack Lee was the lone BU diver to compete on Saturday and he earned a season-best rating of 287.15 on the the 3-meter.

Freshman Azariah Mamousette, sophomore Galen Carter, sophomore Derek Cheng and junior David Kohan every recorded two season bests. Mamousette posted a 49.84 within the 100 backstroke and a forty five.76 within the 100 freestyle. Carter registered a 50.08 within the 100 backstroke and a 2:05.40 within the 200 breaststroke whereas Cheng put up instances of 21.21 (50) and 46.12 (100) within the dash freestyles. Kohan swam a 49.68 within the 100 butterfly and a 1:55.61 within the 200 butterfly.

Other season bests got here had been earned by freshman Andrew Ignatescu (200 free, 1:40.84),  junior Evan Liu (200 again, 1:55.38), and junior Jonathan Tsang (200 fly, 1:49.48).
