‘Stop attacking me,’ Texas photographer receives loss of life threats in case of mistaken id

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – A Texas pictures enterprise proprietor stated she has acquired loss of life threats and calls threatening to destroy her enterprise because of a case of mistaken id linked to an incident in Louisiana.

Shelby T. Rhodes, proprietor of Shelby Rhodes Photography in Texas, posted a video on Facebook Monday saying she has been wrongly recognized as somebody concerned in an assault on a grandmother in Louisiana. Rhodes gave KSLA News 12 permission to make use of her Facebook video.

“I am Shelby Tara Rhodes. And my photography business is in Texas. Not Louisiana,” Rhodes stated within the video.

Rhodes stated folks have been calling and leaving messages threatening to rape and kill her and destroy her enterprise on-line. She stated the threats stem from confusion over her id in reference to a Louisiana incident involving an assault on a grandmother throughout a Mardi Gras Parade.

“By responding hatefully back to the people that are calling me and leaving messages that they’re going to rape me, that they’re going to kill me, that they’re going to destroy my business online and everywhere that they can. I forgive you,” Rhodes stated. “I know you don’t understand, but I just hope that maybe you can see this video and understand in my heart that I’m not that person and nor would I ever do anything that happened. The irony is, I have a mistaken identity issue.”

Photographer appeals for finish to harassment

In the emotional video, Rhodes stated she forgives those that have threatened her and requested them to cease the assaults on her enterprise.

“I forgive you. I know you don’t understand. But I just hope that maybe you can see this video and understand in my heart that I’m not that person,” Rhodes stated.

Rhodes described herself as “a God-loving grandmother.” She stated one man who initially known as to assault her later helped her discover methods to make clear her id on social media.

“Be careful what you say and what you do. Because it’s a different world these days,” Rhodes stated. She stated she was advised to be humble and requested for the harassment to finish.

Rhodes stated she prays for all folks concerned within the Louisiana incident and hopes “their hearts are pure enough to forgive.”
