Warwick boys swimming and diving group wins OCIAA Division 2 championship

Congratulations to the Warwick Boys Swimming and Diving program on an entire group effort in profitable the OCIAA Division 2 Championships! It is the primary time the Wildcats have gained a championship since 1996.

Warwick gained the meet with 482 factors. Monroe-Woodbury was second with 425.

“Every athlete on our team contributed to our scoring 482 points,” Coach Frank Woodward mentioned. “Our divers led off the meet by placing 1st through 6th and 12th place in an outstanding display of their abilities! The swimmers continued our wire to wire victory with 83% lifetime best performances and numerous new sectional championship qualifying times.”

Freshman Drew Voloshin completed first in diving with an 11-dive complete of 597.10 factors. He was adopted by teammates: Lucas Wensley (2nd, 461.90), Macklin Tomlinson (third, 440.95), Rory Wright (4th, 370.45), Danyal Hafeez (fifth, 396.60) and Jaden Klausner (sixth, 302.40).

Senior Connor Holland gained the 100-yard freestyle in 49.56 seconds and positioned second within the 100-yard backstroke (53.31).

“I am so proud of our team, families, alumni, fans and school district administration for their spirit and support in buying into what we are trying to achieve with our young men,” Mr. Woodward mentioned. “This win belongs to all of you, including the long time coaches John, Antoinette and Anthony Quinn, who established the swim team family environment that we have revived. We have a lot more to look forward to achieving this season at our Last Chance, Sectional, and State Championships Meets coming in the next few weeks! I am so grateful to be part of this team!”
