MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College ladies’s swimming & diving crew swam nicely on the primary day of the MIAC Swimming & Diving Championships, held on the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center Wednesday night time. The Scots scored 62 factors in two relays and are in fifth place, two factors behind St. Olaf and Carleton who’re tied for third.

The Scots opened Day 1 with the 200-yard medley relay crew of first yr Kayla Chapman (Happy Valley, Ore./LaSalle Catholic College Prep), senior Izzy Uhlhorn-Thornton (Mill Valley, Calif./Tamalpais), sophomore Amalia Shields (Madison, Wis./Madison West), and senior Emma Henry (Chesapeake, Va./Oscar Smith) taking fifth with a time of 1:46.51.

In the 800-yard freestyle relay, the foursome of Shields, sophomores Maya Tellez (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury) and Molly Nuckolls (Lawrence, Kan./Free State), and senior Hannah Zurn (Hudson, Wis./Hudson) completed second with a time of seven:44.64. The efficiency, which was .51 off of the college file, earned the crew All-MIAC honors for ending within the prime three.

The MIAC Championships proceed on Thursday, with periods at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
