Males’s Swimming & Diving: Macalester Competes Nicely on Day 1 of MIAC Championships

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College males’s swimming & diving staff received off to a powerful begin on the MIAC Swimming & Diving Championships on the primary day on the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center Wednesday night. The Scots presently sit in fourth place within the staff standings with 79 factors, only one level behind third-place Gustavus.

Senior diver Dylan Herlihy (Reading, Mass./Phillips Academy Andover) began the meet off by qualifying for the finals on the 3-meter board with a rating of 307.00. In the finals he scored 322.80 factors to complete in sixth place and earn All-MIAC honorable point out standing.

The 200-yard medley relay staff of sophomore Kean Pajarillaga (Saipan, Marianas Pacific/Grace Christian Academy), senior Will St. John (McGaheysville, Va./East Rockingham), sophomore Jack Schumacher (Golden, Colo./Lakewood) and senior TJ Palli (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) completed second with a time of 1:34.18.

In the 800-yard freestyle relay, the staff of junior Thomas Moore (Philadelphia, Pa./Science Leadership Academy), Pajarillaga, first 12 months Edward Barnes (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) and sophomore Max Taufen (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) positioned third with a time of 6:58.01. Moore’s break up time of 1:42.12 broke a 34-year-old faculty document within the 200-yard freestyle. The earlier document of 1:42.25 was set in 1992 by Adam Burke ’92. Both relay finishes earn All-MIAC honors, which require a top-3 end.
