The Santa Monica College Emeritus Art Gallery publicizes its 2026 Annual Student Photography Exhibition. The free exhibition opens on March 5 and runs via April 24 within the Emeritus Art Gallery at 1227 Second St., Santa Monica. The opening reception for the exhibit shall be held on Thursday, March 5, from 5 p.m. to six:30 p.m. within the gallery, positioned on the primary ground of the SMC Emeritus Campus, 1227 Second St., in downtown Santa Monica. Parking is accessible subsequent door in Santa Monica Public Parking Structure No. 2. Gallery hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday via Friday. The exhibition and opening reception are free.
The opening reception shall be hosted by Emeritus Art Gallery Curator Jesse Benson. “This is the first on-campus Emeritus Student Photography Exhibition in six years,” stated Benson. “The 2020 show closed prematurely due to the pandemic, so we established an online model. Moving forward, the beloved annual photography event will rotate yearly between in-gallery and online-only presentation. This year’s show offers a long-anticipated opportunity to celebrate our talented Emeritus photography community in-person at Emeritus Gallery. Hope to see you at the opening reception event.”
The group exhibition encompasses a outstanding number of current photographic works created by 32 college students. The college students are: Dian Andrews, Kathleen Battersby, Terry Brown, Dorli Burge, Angela Castellano, Caroline Gerstley, Jim Gerstley, Trude Haas, Kathleen Higgins, Jude, Marilyn Kabakov, Josephine La Rosa, Jebbie Lavoie, Carey Lundin, Fran Lyness, Nol Martín-tungpalan, Cindy Sanchez Mattson, Elaine Maxwell, Howard Meibach, Wendy Miller, Regina Pally, Allan Popelka, Doris Power, Linda Rosman, Karen Sandler, Ganna Shneydina, Nancy Rae Stone, Sandra Strength, Michael Telerant, James Wang, Shifra Wylder, and Yvonne Yao.
The extensively praised SMC Emeritus program – based by Santa Monica College in 1975 as a noncredit program to serve the lifelong studying pursuits of older adults – affords greater than 120 noncredit grownup training courses and particular packages that serve greater than 3,000 college students every year.
