‘Kept clawing and sticking collectively’: Homan says of week of must-win video games

After defeating South Korea to safe a spot within the ladies’s curling semifinals at Milano Cortina 2026, Rachel Homan says her crew is able to compete for an Olympic medal.

After staring down elimination earlier within the week, Canada’s ladies’s curling crew is headed again to the Olympic semifinals for the primary time since gold at Sochi in 2014.

“We fought hard for everything,” stated skip Rachel Homan. “Obviously a slow start, but we just kept our belief. We were playing really good, just on the wrong side of the inch. We figured out how to get to the other side.”

Canada has now received 5 straight, grinding by what felt like must-win video games all week, based on Homan. 

“That’s one way to get to a semi,” stated Homan, who delivered the victory on her mother Kathy’s birthday. 

“We just kept clawing and sticking together.”

The semifinal opponent remains to be to be decided, however a rematch with top-seeded Sweden looms. Canada beat the crew 8-6 within the spherical robin. 

Homan says her crew is prepared.

“It’s hard out there. Every team is phenomenal, but we have to keep fighting for every inch. It’s been a long week, but this is what we trained and prepared for in Canada.”
