MONROE, La. (KNOE) – The University of Louisiana at Monroe introduced they’ll now show a brand new exhibit honoring the lifetime of Tianyu Wang, an esteemed Chinese photojournalist.

Members from ULM say the exhibit will probably be named “Through the Lens of Tianyu Wang: Shaanxi Province in the 1960s-2000s.”

According to ULM, Wang has a significant connection to ULM via his daughter, Xiaoan Wang, and son-in-law, Dr. Jun Tan.

In summer season 2025, the Tan household created a memorial scholarship in Wang’s honor, the Tianyu Wang Endowed Scholarship in Communication. This scholarship helps an upperclassman pursuing a level in communication with pursuits in photojournalism.

“I see the power of photography and my dad’s contribution in the field of photojournalism. I want to share his passion for photography and his lifelong work with a bigger audience,” mentioned Xiaoan. “In my dad’s personal phrases, images presents a option to ‘remember our brilliant history in order to motivate us to make progress in the future.”

The exhibit is set to showcase eighteen photographs that document daily life, cultural traditions, and landscapes from when China was undergoing a period of dramatic change.

“This exhibit is exactly where it should be in the entrance to Walker Hall, where our students, faculty, and staff will get to view this great work and the history behind it, and how masterfully it is done,” said Dr. Carrie L. Castille, the ULM President. “We’re very grateful to the Tan household and really honored.”
