Dukes Shut Out Third Day at American Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior Maddie O’Mera completed sixth within the 3-meter board championship ultimate to paved the way for James Madison swimming & diving because it closed out the third day of the 2026 American Championship on Friday contained in the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

The Dukes remained in sixth place with 535 factors with Rice sustaining its lead with 976.5 factors.

Prelims

• Three Dukes superior to the finals within the 100 Back, as freshman Maria Costa completed 16^th with a time of 55.40. Seniors Jamie Cornwell (55.51) and Sarah Pauley (55.61) respectively completed 18^th and 20^th.
• Junior Riley Bridgman swam a time of 1:02.53 to complete 10^th within the 100 Breast, joined by freshmen Emma Dougherty (17^th, 1:03.64) and Lily Moore (24^th, 1:06.35).
• Sophomore Maddy Coombs claimed ninth place within the 200 Fly with a time of two:01.87.
• O’Mera and redshirt junior Natalie Jones moved the finals, ending seventh and 10^th respectively in prelims with scores of 277.70 and 272.25.

 
Finals

• To start the night time session, the crew of sophomore Madison Wimmer, senior Alex Volk, senior Riley Nugent and Cornwell completed sixth within the 800 Free Relay with a time of seven:21.41.
• Costa completed fifth within the B Final with a time of 55.44. Pauley (56.04) took fourth within the C Final, whereas Cornwell took seventh (56.52).
• In the B Final for the 100 Breast, Bridgman completed fourth with a time of 1:02.68. Dougherty swam a time of 1:03.62 within the C Final to complete fourth, whereas Moore completed eighth with a time of 1:06.29.
• Coombs was edged out for second place within the B Final of the 200 Fly, swimming a personal-best time of two:00.90. She remained in fifth place in program historical past.
• On the 3-meter board, O’Mera completed sixth with a rating of 291.95. In the comfort ultimate, Jones completed sixth with a rating of 258.20.
