Sometimes one of the best journey moments aren’t the landmarks.

They’re the water faucets.

This week in Tasmania, we stayed on the seashore camp on the Bay of Fires.

I share reflections like this, plus sensible subject classes, in my weekly e-newsletter:

White sand.
Clear blue water.
Sunrises that made you cease mid-sentence.

Early morning walks with Miller earlier than the world awakened.

Staying in a single place gave us one thing completely different.

Focus.

Time to work correctly.
Time to discover deeply.
Depth as a substitute of distance.

Midweek, a pricey good friend joined us on her solo east coast journey.
Long conversations.
Shared swims.

The quiet present of time collectively.

And then got here the serendipity.

At a public water faucet, a neighborhood shared instructions with Tris to a hidden swimming spot.

No Google overview.
No signpost.
Just, “Head towards the single gum tree, past the rocks and you’ll see it.”

A pure pool between boulders.

Protected from the wind and waves, but open to the ocean.

Clear. Cool. Unforgettable.
The type of place you solely discover as a result of somebody selected to share it.

On the weekend we explored St Helens.
A café lunch become Miller making a brand new good friend who generously shared his bacon.

The canine’s house owners ran a neighborhood pizza restaurant.
So we booked dinner.
Returned with associates.
Supported their enterprise.

Community retains discovering us.

Last night time we settled into a fantastic valley at Pub within the Paddock, broad views stretching out in each course, one other shared meal forward.

This week hasn’t been about ticking off sights.
It’s been about conversations.
About shared meals.

About locals pointing us in the direction of one thing particular.

Travel, like life, isn’t nearly the place you go.

It’s about who you meet alongside the best way.

What surprising encounter has stayed with you lengthy after the journey ended?

I share reflections like this, plus sensible subject classes, in my weekly e-newsletter:
