Safe Space Supper fosters group in Macon

You cannot spell group with out ‘u’ and ‘i’, and that stands true for the LGBTQ+ group right here in Macon.

The Middle Georgia Safe Space Supper is held as soon as a month at Startup Studios on Riverside Drive.

An evening of meals, video games, and music, and naturally, making new connections.

Caroline Exum has been to the supper twice now, and she or he says the occasion is necessary for the group.

“I like being able to congregate with people that I wouldn’t be able to know or meet before,” she mentioned.

It was all smiles Saturday night time: associates, {couples}, and households all having fun with meals offered by Grow Fresh Local Food, Kory’s Cupcakes, and Sweet Eleanor’s.

There was a bingo sport, the place a $25 present card was given away, courtesy of the Bohemian Den in downtown Macon.

The Founder of Middle Georgia Safe Space Supper, Colby Cirami-Robinson, says the concept for the occasion spurred when he was in a bar, realizing he needed extra associates, and needed to hangout in a unique environment.

He mentioned the occasion’s success has been an enormous shock.

“I had about 60 people at the first one, and there was 30-something at this months. It’s better than I expected. I told myself if I could gather at least 15-20 people, it was a success. So, I consider it super successful.”

There was a stay artist on the occasion, EHTH.X Illustrations, who was capturing the love within the room, drawing caricatures and portraits of attendees.

Cirami-Robinson says actual connections are being made on the Safe Space Suppers.

“People are telling me that they’ve made friends and they’re hanging out outside of here, getting together and making their own little memories. That’s exactly why I started it.”

The subsequent Middle Georgia Safe Space Supper is ready for March, and a kickball sport can also be being organized, anticipated on the finish of April.
