Hanson siblings be a part of hearth hydrant problem for enjoyable park prize

Hanson residents Maggie Dugas, 8, and her brother, Ryan, 7, love a very good snow day dwelling from faculty. But the shoveling that inevitably comes with it? Not a lot.

Like most simple schoolers, Maggie and Ryan desire to depart the arduous guide labor to the adults. But not as we speak.

Much to their mom’s shock, at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, the courageous third and second graders marched out of the home, bundled in scorching pink and blue snow pants and armed with snow shovels that towered over them each.

In what dad and mom throughout city thought was an not possible feat — getting their children to enthusiastically assist with the shoveling — the Hanson Fire Department managed to do in a single Facebook post.

The division introduced Tuesday that with the assistance of Starland Sportsplex & Fun Park, they’ll give away three free indoor park passes to residents who clear the snow from their nearest hearth hydrant.

They didn’t have to inform Maggie and Ryan twice. The prospect of mini golf and the “shark head” was lots motivation for them, Maggie and Ryan’s mother, Katie Dugas stated.

“The kids were excited to participate,” Dugas informed The Enterprise Tuesday afternoon after getting into them within the competitors. “They have always come out with me, but not to help.”

While bragging rights and naturally, three hours of mini golf, are on the road, the actual win helps the primary responders who work day by day to maintain the group secure.

“We had a house fire in October where we lost our house, belongings and dog,” Dugas stated. “We, at the time, lived in Pembroke, but Hanson responded and assisted that day,” she stated.

Clearing the fireplace hydrant along with her household, she stated, left all of them feeling proud.

“It’s the least we can do,” she stated.

How to enter the hydrant clearing competitors

To enter the competitors, just like the Hanson Fire Department’s Facebook page, like and share the department’s hydrant clearing challenge post and most significantly, drop a photograph of your self posing beside your cleared out hydrant — three ft throughout it — to get credit score on your arduous work.

The deadline to enter is Saturday, Feb. 28 at 6 p.m., and the three fortunate winners can be chosen by a random drawing on Sunday, March 1.
