GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Cyclones had a powerful begin on the primary day of competitors on the 2026 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships.

“I’m really excited because there’s a lot more in us,” stated head coach Matt Leach. “I’m pleasantly surprised that after this first session we’re ahead of West Virginia and Houston – that shows what this group is capable of. We had a top-10 all-time relay, diving stepped up and beat some schools we needed to beat, and we’re not done yet. Each session is a new opportunity to get better, and we have to keep building from here.”

Time Trials

Abbi Crum began the day for Iowa State swimming the 100 breast, posting a time of 1:03.28. Matilde Geromin adopted within the 200 breast, clocking a 2:17.05. Emma Kuhn closed out the morning for the Cyclones within the 50 backstroke, ending with a time of 26.29.

200 Medley Relay

The group of Emma Kuhn, Grace Swoboda, Kendall Mallers and Piper Hagen opened finals competitors within the 200 medley relay, ending in 1:40.68 to earn an eighth-place end general for the Cyclones.
