“I just heard about Big Brothers Big Sisters, and what I loved about it was, one, the people here, but just that you get to really focus on a relationship,” Dan mentioned.

Miguel and his mother discovered in regards to the group from a college counselor when he was going by a tough patch.

“It was more like behavioral issues, and my mom, she’s a single parent, so the counselor gave us all these programs, and BBBS was one of the highlighted ones,” Miguel mentioned.

“We cook a lot,” Miguel mentioned. “We eat a lot.”

“Eat, we love to eat food,” Dan mentioned. “We’ve made food, we go to restaurants, that’s where we can just hang out and talk.”

They each agree that it might sound intimidating at first to get entangled, however they mentioned it’s definitely worth the lifetime friendship.

“You have to look at the pros and cons,” Miguel mentioned. “The pros being you get to talk to someone, you get to have an outlet, you get to have fun, you get to do what you want. The cons being, you have to step out of your comfort zone for a little bit, but after that it’s like a sigh of relief.”

“I think it’s scary for a lot of people, but I think once you get ot it they do a really good job of matching you here, and I think that’s really important because they try to set you up with somebody who matches a lot of your interests,” Dan mentioned.
