KENORA — Sophie English, a 15-year-old with the Kenora Swimming Sharks, has set a brand new Canadian Para Swimming file.
English set the file within the ladies’s 800-metre freestyle quick course, ending in 15:28.66 at a contest in Winnipeg on Feb. 20.
“I’ve watched Sophie show up every single day and give everything she has. For that dedication to be recognized with a Canadian record — it means the world to her, to our club, and to everyone in Kenora who has supported her along the way. This is her moment,” head coach Janet Hyslop was quoted as saying in a media launch issued by the swim membership Wednesday.
