Wasiniak Wins One-Meter Diving National Championship

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — For the primary time since 2015, Wayne State has a males’s diving National Champion.  Competing on the one-meter board on Wednesday night time, Max Wasiniak (Huron, Ohio) completed atop the eight-man podium with a finals mark of 536.25 and have become a five-time All-American (4 First Team, one Second Team).

“Max put on a masterclass in consistency today,” stated head diving coach Jason Trout.  “In a field with a deep depth of talent, he was able to hold consistent throughout the entire meet averaging a score of over 7.5 on dives to take home the first male National Champion in diving since 2015.”

That 2015 National Championship was captured by Wayne State Hall of Famer Dylan Szegedi on the three-meter board due to a remaining whole of 587.65.  Szegedi additionally proved to be one of the best within the nation two years prior for the one-meter top with a rating of 529.65.
