‘Assassin Sunday’: Unpermitted seaside social gathering deliberate in Alameda this weekend regarding college district, police

ALAMEDA, Calif. (KGO) — A flyer circulating on social media is drawing some concern. It promotes a celebration known as “Assassin Sunday” for this weekend at Alameda Beach. It says final “one standing wins a prize.”

And there’s phrase a few related social gathering this coming Tuesday.

The Alameda Unified School District despatched a message to center and highschool mother and father Thursday night time urging them to discourage their teenagers from attending these events, saying that final Saturday night time, a whole lot of teenagers gathered at Crown Beach and South Shore Center including:

“The gathering resulted in fights, car accidents, and other significant disruptions on both the beach and at the shopping center… Large crowds such as these can quickly spiral out of control, and participating in them can result in accidents, injuries, and/or arrest.”

Lt. Ben Guzman, of the East Bay Regional Park District, stated the events should not permitted in order that makes it exhausting to know the way many individuals will attend.

“Obviously having water guns in a park is not a problem, but there are times you can have firearms or replica firearms that can cause problems,” Lt. Guzman stated. “So safety is my main concern to see what people are actually bringing and hopefully we can make sure we have a good, fun day for everybody to come to the parks.”

Alameda police posted on social media concerning the murderer model sport utilizing water weapons and water balloons saying: “While this may seem like harmless fun, similar games in the past have led to unintended and dangerous consequences.”

“Building community and connecting with other kids their age, I think it’s a good idea as long as it’s safe and there’s no violence involved you know,” Baez stated.

Teen Santi Choi-Montalvo agrees.

“It sounds fun and probably a lot of people (are) going to be there,” he stated, including, “Everybody (is) overreacting.”

Overreacting or not, Lt. Guzman stated they’re going to have additional officers there.

“All the normal rules would be in place so no alcohol, no glass on the beach, no smoking, things of that magnitude,” he stated.
