Photographer’s portraits give shelter canines second likelihood at adoption

AUSTIN, Texas (KEYE/CBS NEWSPATH/WKRC) – An Austin-area photographer has launched a program geared toward serving to shelter canines discover houses by giving them skilled portraits.

Kim Ortiz, proprietor of Kim Ortiz Portrait Art Studio in Bee Cave, created Second Chances Dogs to interchange fundamental shelter images with skilled photos designed to assist canines stand out to potential adopters.

“I have 5 rescue dogs and they have the best life,” Ortiz stated.

The program permits native companies to sponsor a canine’s photograph session for $100.

“Any dog deserves a beautiful portrait that will help them get adopted,” Ortiz stated.

So far, 12 canines have been photographed via this system, together with canines from PAWS in Dripping Springs, Austin Pets Alive and Dogs Without Borders.

Ortiz stated photographing rescue canines can require endurance.

“As a photographer you just have to be very patient and calm because dogs do pick up on the energy and so if you’re calm and peaceful then the dog feels it,” she stated.

Ortiz stated the purpose is to assist long-stay shelter canines discover everlasting houses.

“Every dog deserves a loving home to live in a bed, to sleep on a bed, you know, a sofa to hang out and not in a cage or at a shelter,” Ortiz stated.
