BENTONVILLE — Bentonville’s swimming and diving groups have had a lot success, however is on the lookout for a brand new head coach as former Coach Lyndsay Watts stepped down Tuesday afternoon.
Watts determined to step down as she wished to spend extra time along with her household. Watts was on the helm for 2 seasons and stated main a program nearly as good as Bentonville has been excellent.
The Lady Tigers have gained the final eight state championships and the boys workforce has gained the final 4 state championships.
“While my time as head coach was relatively short, the relationships built during that time are incredibly meaningful and will stay with me forever,” Watts stated. “This program is so much bigger than wins and records–it’s about people, growth, and the culture we create together.
“I’m so pleased with the way in which our athletes present up for one another, push by challenges, and characterize what it means to be a part of one thing larger than themselves. Being a small a part of that has meant every little thing to me.”
Watts is married to her husband Gabe and the couple has two sons, named Corbin and Parker.
Watts and her family will still be in Bentonville as she will teach special education at Bentonville High School.
Watts will miss coaching but is excited to spend more time with her family. She still plans to support the swim program and is excited to cheer on her former athletes.
“I’ve reached a degree the place I wish to be extra current for my very own youngsters in these on a regular basis moments that matter a lot,” Watts said. “It’s a bittersweet transition, however one I really feel assured and at peace realizing I might be absolutely current for my household.”
Watts will not be on the search committee to hire a new coach.
The hiring committee consists of Bentonville Athletic Director Ronnie Delk, District Athletic Director Billy Tipps and a group of school administrators.
