A spotlight of GDC Festival of Gaming for me was an sudden invitation to attend a dinner organised by Tencent and the Good Game Club Podcast to debate how we will do extra to spotlight the facility of video video games as a power for good.

It was such a constructive and energetic dialogue. We had been joined by actors and storytellers who spoke with actual ardour concerning the energy of video games to construct empathy and connection. We heard how video games have been used to underpin social actions, to function a platform for people who find themselves typically marginalised in our societies, even to advertise political literacy and company for communities everywhere in the world.

We reside in such polarised instances, through which public discourse is so typically decreased to pointless over-simplifications of complicated concepts. It was a reminder that video games create worlds through which complicated and conflicting narratives will be explored and reconciled.

We know all this. But society at giant does not. There is an argument that point and demographics are on our facet – that fewer and fewer individuals exist immediately that do not embody a recreation of their formative expertise. But the tempo of change and the onset of understanding is glacial. The job of our era is to speed up this understanding.
