Obituary for James A. Stewart Sr.

James A. Stewart, Sr., lovingly referred to as “Pap,” handed away peacefully at residence on March 20, 2026, on the age of 87, simply days earlier than his 88th birthday.

Born March 28, 1938, in Lake Lynn, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Charles and Helen Stewart.

Jim was a person of quiet power, a faithful supplier, and a loving presence to all who knew him. He labored for a few years as a truck driver earlier than persevering with his profession at Duquesne Coal Mine in Greene County, Pennsylvania, at all times taking satisfaction in offering for his household.

He was preceded in dying by his beloved spouse, Barbara Ann Stewart; his youngsters, Donald “Sam” Stewart (Sherri Stewart) and Donna Stewart; his grandchildren, Randy “Jake” White Jr. and Barbie Stewart; and his great-granddaughter, Emily Wilson.

He is survived by his youngsters: William “Bill” Stewart, Mary Stewart, Norma Friend (Paul Friend), Joyce Graham (Rodney Graham), and James “Jimbo” Stewart Jr. (Denise Stewart); his sister, Mae Strosnider; and plenty of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nice great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Jim discovered nice pleasure in his religion, particularly attending Jesus Mission Apostolic Church in Osage, West Virginia, the place he liked singing the outdated church hymns and cherished Pastor Gwynn.

He loved life’s easy moments; morning walks, mountain drives listening to George Jones, and yearly practice rides together with his son-in-law, and spending time together with his household. 

Above all, Jim was a faithful household man; the very definition of what a father and grandfather needs to be. He confirmed up. He was there for each second that mattered and even those that appeared small. His household was his satisfaction and pleasure, and he made certain every one in all them knew they had been liked.

The household extends heartfelt gratitude to his caretakers for his or her compassion and kindness.

He shall be deeply missed however by no means forgotten. His legacy is just not solely within the life he lived, however within the lives he touched; the household he raised, the love he gave, and the recollections that shall be carried on for generations.

The household will obtain family and friends within the Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. on Monday from 2:00 to eight:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The Funeral Service will start at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Gwynn McKinley officiating. Interment will comply with in Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa.
