Healey administration doling out $10 million for World Cup watch events

“The World Cup will bring people from across the globe to Massachusetts, and we want every resident across our state to be part of that moment,” stated Healey, a Democrat and former skilled athlete.

The grant recipients embrace:

— Boston Soccer 2026, the occasion’s host committee, which is receiving $4.2 million.

— The cities of Burlington, Lexington, and Weymouth, that are receiving grants starting from $15,000 to $40,000.

— The U.S. Haitian Chamber of Commerce based mostly in Randolph, which’ll obtain $25,000.

Last week, the federal authorities introduced it’s releasing $46 million to Massachusetts for safety for the occasion. That adopted a prolonged standoff between Boston Soccer 2026 and the city of Foxborough over safety funding at Gillette Stadium.

Healey stated the occasions “will create opportunities for residents and visitors to come together, celebrate the world’s game, support our local businesses, and experience the energy and connection that sports can inspire.”

Gillette Stadium will host seven World Cup matches between June 13 and July 9.
