Background and Objectives:
This research investigates the connection between gaming dependancy and Machiavellianism in adolescents, specializing in the mediating position of cyberbullying and the moderating position of the guardian–adolescent relationship.
Methods:
A complete of 601 highschool college students in Istanbul participated within the research. Participants accomplished standardized measures assessing gaming dependancy, Machiavellian traits, cyberbullying behaviors, and the standard of their relationship with their mother and father. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to check a moderated mediation mannequin.
Results:
Cyberbullying considerably mediated the connection between gaming dependancy and Machiavellianism. Moreover, the guardian–adolescent relationship moderated the hyperlink between gaming dependancy and cyberbullying: the affiliation was stronger amongst adolescents reporting decrease relationship high quality. Model match indices indicated acceptable match for the proposed mannequin.
Conclusions:
These findings spotlight the psychological and social pathways by way of which gaming dependancy might relate to manipulative persona traits. Interventions aiming to enhance household dynamics and scale back cyberbullying behaviors might assist mitigate the unfavourable results of extreme gaming in adolescents.
