The Church in Sag Harbor presents a gap reception on Saturday, April 4, from 6 to 7:30 PM, that includes a primary have a look at the 2026 Spring Exhibition “A Thousand Words: Photography at The New Yorker.”
Curated by Elisabeth Biondi, the primary Visuals Editor of The New Yorker, the present explores the work of ten employees photographers for the periodical: Ruven Afanador, Richard Avedon, Mary Ellen Mark, Gilles Peress, Sylvia Plachy, Platon, Robert Polidori, Steve Pyke, Martin Schoeller, and Max Vadukul.
The New Yorker journal celebrated its a hundredth Anniversary in February 2025. For virtually 70 years, solely illustrations had been used for articles in the publication. In 1992, when Tina Brown was named Editor-in-Chief, she broke with custom by introducing images, instantly naming Richard Avedon because the journal’s first unique employees photographer and subsequently naming Elisabeth Biondi as its first Visuals Editor in 1994, the place she remained via 2013.
