Every spring, there’s a night time of pure CHAOS on the Texas Lutheran University campus—when children of all ages collect, and shrieks of enjoyment could be heard coming from the neighborhood of the Student Activity Center.

The reason for all the joy? Science—chemistry, to be exact—and on this occasion, CHAOS stands for “Chemistry Happens with Adventurous Outstanding Scientists.” CHAOS Night, hosted by the TLU Pi Rho Chemistry Club, is a free occasion that raises consciousness concerning the world of chemistry in a enjoyable and interactive method.

The theme of this 12 months’s occasion, which takes place on Tuesday, March 31, is “The Chemistry of Health and Medicine,” and in line with TLU Assistant Professor of Chemistry Dr. Jacques Jean-Francois, it will likely be an evening that’s equal elements enjoyable and training. “For the kid in us, CHAOS promises a good time through fun and scientifically sound experiments in the world of health and medicine,” stated Jean-Francois. “The last COVID pandemic showed that despite leaps and bounds in technological progress and medicine, humans are still vulnerable to viral outbreaks. Covid took a huge toll on people of all ages with prior conditions, and this highlights the importance of cultivating strong health through good nutritional habits and an active lifestyle. With good health, medicine becomes a technological tool helping to better our quality of life.”

Some of the highlights attendees can look ahead to embody the possibility to learn the way TUMS antacid works, learn how to make wound dressings, how egg whites and protein perform—to not point out an exercise that entails bursting gummy bears! Plus, there will probably be goodie baggage with plenty of surprises for younger scientists in attendance.

Kids (and youngsters at coronary heart) are inspired to come back to campus and get some hands-on expertise with chemistry. The enjoyable begins on Tuesday, March 31, at 6 p.m. within the Student Activity Center, positioned at 824 Fleming Drive, and wraps up at 8 p.m. This occasion is free and open to all.
