ELSAH, Ill. – The St. Olaf College males’s tennis staff concluded its spring break journey with a 6-1 victory over Principia College on Thursday night at Hexberg Tennis Center.

St. Olaf (7-7) gained two of the three doubles matches and 5 of the six singles matches to topple Principia (2-8) within the first assembly between the 2 packages. Senior Bogdan Vizoli and sophomore Lou Smith teamed for a win at No. 1 doubles and gained their respective singles matches to cleared the path for the Oles.

St. Olaf wrapped up the doubles level with convincing wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles earlier than the Panthers took the No. 2 doubles match in a tiebreaker. Juniors Ryan Birnesser and Joe O’Flaherty moved to 2-0 on the season as a tandem with a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles earlier than Vizoli and Smith completed off a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles.

Junior Cathal Mee put the primary level on the board in singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win on the No. 4 spot earlier than Smith gave St. Olaf a 3-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph at No. 3 singles for his team-leading tenth singles win of the season. After Principia posted a straight-set victory at No. 2 singles, Vizoli secured the clinching level with a 6-0, 7-6 (7-4) win on the high spot for his eighth win this season.

Sophomores Mason Ramirez and Daniel Meunier accomplished the 6-1 win with straight-set victories within the ultimate two matches. Ramirez picked up his second win in a row with a 6-3, 6-0 rating at No. 5 singles, whereas Meunier locked up his first singles win of the season with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles.

St. Olaf will return to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) play with a 4:15 p.m. match at Carleton College on Monday, April 13.
