Ladd and Sofia

Ree Drummond

Last time Sofia came over the ranch, she had a nasty chilly and wasn’t too thinking about spending a lot time with Pa-Pa, aka Ladd, aka the husband of my youth. This time was one other story—she had loads of enjoyable with him, and it undoubtedly had nothing to do with the truth that he was sneaking her items of sweet as he was stuffing Easter eggs for our church. (But it did not damage.)

An Easter Outfit a Day Keeps the Frowns Away

Ree Drummond

On Good Friday, as soon as everybody was on the town, a number of of the children loaded as much as go have breakfast at The Merc, which gave Sofia a motive to put on Easter Outfit #1! Here they had been on the brink of head out the door.

Sofia at The Merc!

Ree Drummond

What an enormous lady! From all accounts, Sofia sampled hen strips, Merc biscuits, and bites of just about what the entire gang ordered. They shopped across the retailer and Sofia had a grand ol’ time!

High Five with Uncle Bryce

Ree Drummond

Bryce was working that day, however took time to come back eat along with his sibs and brothers-in-law (and niece!) She likes her uncle and that massive hat he is at all times carrying. She stares at it rather a lot.

Stuffing Easter Eggs for Church

Ree Drummond

A convention for our household on Easter weekend is stuffing hundreds of thousands (not likely) of eggs for the little children’ Easter egg hunt at church. It’s at all times been a Ladd-and-the-kids process since I’m normally getting meals prepared for the subsequent day, however this yr the children took the reins and knocked all of them out earlier than their sibling poker recreation (one other custom!) At least they do the Easter eggs first…

Setting the Table

Ree Drummond

Paige began setting the desk on Saturday night, simply because the western solar was filtering into the eating space. So glad she snapped these photographs! I ordered the flowers from a flower shop in my hometown and my gosh…presumably the prettiest I’ve ever seen in my life.

Time Flies

Ree Drummond

This time final yr, we had been gearing up for Paige’s wedding ceremony in May. It’s arduous to imagine it is already been nearly a yr. Last yr we had been planning the flowers for her wedding ceremony, this yr the flowers choices had been somewhat extra relaxed! 😂

Children’s Time!

Ree Drummond

Usually I’ve anyplace from 1 to five kids at my Sunday kids’s sermons…however we had an enormous turnout this yr! I believe we had about 13 or 14 children, and it was as chaotic because it might be, however enjoyable nonetheless. The undeniable fact that I began doing Children’s Time at this church when Todd was a child and now my granddaughter comes as much as be part of us…properly, it is somewhat surreal! Especially contemplating I infrequently know what I’m going to speak about till ten minutes earlier than I depart my home for church.

Easter Egg Hunt!

Ree Drummond

Per custom, my children depart church proper after communion and go “hide” the eggs for the little children…and that just about consists of sprinkling them everywhere in the garden of our church in order that they’re simple to identify. Last yr Sofa was tiny and unaware of Easter eggs. What a distinction a yr makes!

10

Pookie Sunshine!

Ree Drummond

We’ve had Easters right here in north central Oklahoma which were sunny, heat, icy, chilly, snowy, wet, and sweltering. Yesterday was just about good, and so was Sofia, by the best way. She’s my pookie sunshine and I like her a lot.

Murphy and His Parents!

Paige Drummond

This yr it was nice to have a brand new granddog on the scene. Murphy matches proper in with all of the ranch chaos and sights (and smells.) He jumped within the pond proper earlier than this pic as a result of…properly, as a result of Lab. He’s a cutie! (So are his dad and mom.)

12

Fred and Rusty and Their Family

Ree Drummond

I would really like everybody to know that we don’t name our canines over to our household pics. They insert themselves. At least they’re pointing the proper approach and never mooning the digicam this time. Also, I want to remind everybody that I’m 5’9″. I’ll just let that sit for a minute. I think Bryce and Todd were standing slightly uphill; they aren’t actually 7 feet tall. (Sofia was napping BTW!)

Everyone Needs a Son-In-Law

Ree Drummond

And I have two of the best. When it was time to serve lunch, I asked Mauricio to spend thirty seconds educating himself via Google on the best way to carve a hand shank. 31 seconds later, he was donning gloves and showing that ham who was boss. David, meanwhile, was carrying hot pans of food from the guest house oven since mine was full. Best sons-in-law ever!

Lunch is Served!

Ree Drummond

Another Easter tradition we have (unofficially) is that immediately after communion on Easter, I dart back home and get back to cooking in hopes that we will be able to eat before 1:00 pm, because any later than that and various members of my family will start eating bowls of cereal. Our menu was pretty much the same as my new Easter show I made this year, except we did mashed potatoes instead of scalloped, and I threw in a beef tenderloin to go alongside the ham. It’s a cattle ranching thing.

The Reason for the Season

Ree Drummond

Okay, our grown kid Easter egg hunt is not the true purpose of Easter. But it is one of the traditions everyone looks forward to, from the matching shirts, to staying in the garage while the men are hiding the eggs, to crab crawling under the garage door as it opens, to running around like little kids to see who can find the most eggs…it is so much fun every year.

Sofia was Confused

Ree Drummond

I’m sure she was thinking something along the lines of “Why are my mommy and daddy rolling on the bottom and yelling and throwing issues into luggage?” My sister was there to bounce her and answer all her questions this year. 😂
