Working from the forthcoming e-book, Pictures on the Intersection, which was the results of Kolaj Institute’s two-year exploration of the intersection of images and collage, on this residency, artists will contemplate the fabric nature of the {photograph}, how it’s made, how it’s utilized in collage, and make a connection between the fabric and the story of the art work. Artists will develop methods for making and collaging pictures that inform advanced tales and supply the likelihood for deeper influence and engagement with the viewers. The residency will unfold by way of a collection of shows which are adopted by collage making actions, the outcomes of that are introduced to the group. Presentations will communicate to the historical past of images of collage and highlight examples of up to date artist observe. We will contemplate the variations between movie and digital images; what it means to collage with darkroom prints, digital prints, or discovered pictures; and the way an artist can create their very own materials archive. Through collage making actions, artists will discover self-portraiture, fragment making, locative collage, and photographing collage within the wild. Artists within the residency will probably be invited to exhibit art work within the exhibition, “Light on Cut Paper: Photography & Collage,” on the New Orleans Photo Alliance Gallery in June 2026 and to submit art work for an exhibition at Kolaj Institute Gallery in New Orleans in December 2026.

The residency is led by Ric Kasini Kadour, Director of Kolaj Institute and a 2020-2021 Curatorial Fellow of The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, and produced in partnership with the New Orleans Photo Alliance.
