Philip Kangas – a 17-year-old photographer from Sweden – has been named Youth Photographer of the Year on the prestigious Sony World Photography Awards 2026, for capturing a hanging second of firefighters rescuing historic paintings from a blaze in central Stockholm.
The highly effective picture, titled Saving History from the Flames, reveals two emergency responders carrying a big framed portray by the road as hearth crews labored to include a hearth on the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm on June 7, 2025.
