In 1971, the then-owners of a row-end single-family residence positioned in one of many historic neighborhoods of Madrid included into it one of many iconic objects of the imagery of developmental Spain: the blue pool. For their non-public use, they determined to construct a pool, sacrificing almost all the twenty-eight sq. meters that made up the yard of their residence, which till then had been a spot for youngsters’s revelry and a respite from home duties. It is feasible that the choice was made merely in response to altering circumstances: with the kids grown and the housekeeper working outdoors the house, the yard fell into disuse; or maybe, it was the pool, as a fantasy imported from postcards of solar and tourism, that managed to carve out a spot as a want amongst different home wants.
