Amman, 23 April 2026 – From 17 to 23 April, the Delegation of the European Union to Jordan hosted its first Photography Residency Programme in Amman, in partnership with the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts and beneath the inventive path of the artist/photographer Tariq Dajani.

Held beneath the theme “People, Land, Memories,” the residency introduced collectively fourteen photographers from Europe and Jordan. Artists from Cyprus, Greece, France, Spain, and Slovenia joined Jordanian photographers for per week of trade, exploration, and collaboration. Through visits throughout Amman and a subject journey to Ajloun, contributors developed visible narratives reflecting Jordan’s landscapes and communities.

Public engagement was a key element of the programme. Evening workshops and talks at Wijdan Art Space, created area for dialogue between artists and audiences. Sessions included “Express Yourself Through Photography” with Tariq Dajani and “Visual Storytelling: Between Photography and Cinema” with the filmmaker Amjad Al Rasheed, alongside alternatives to fulfill and talk about with the resident photographers.

The residency concluded with a public exhibition on the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts on 23 April, within the presence of H.R.H Princess Wijdan Al-Hashemi. All artworks are on the market, with proceeds supporting the Princess Taghrid Institute for Development and Training and particularly its “Promise for a Better Future” marketing campaign whose intention is to revive hope, create actual alternatives, and empower beneficiaries to change into unbiased and energetic members of society. The exhibition stays open till 5 May. 

The EU Ambassador to Jordan Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas commented: “Art is a powerful vehicle for dialogue between cultures. This residency has created a platform for exchange between European and Jordanian photographers, resulting in works that reflect a shared creative journey while contributing to a meaningful cause.”

Through this initiative, the European Union continues to help cultural trade, inventive collaboration, and the position of artwork in fostering dialogue and optimistic social impression.
