Freiman Named To Second Group Academic All-America® – SJSU Athletics – Official Athletics Web site

AUSTIN, Texas—For the second time in her career, San José State women’s swimmer Ela Freiman has been selected to the 2025-26 Academic All-America® women’s swimming and diving team, as selected by the College Sports Communicators.

Freiman is a second-team honoree this year after being named to the third team in 2023-24. She is the third San José State student-athlete to be a two-time Academic All-America® honoree in the history of the program. She joins former Spartan softball player Rosalind Rios (1990 & 1991) and women’s golfer Tracy Hanson (1992 & 1993) as the only two-time honorees for SJSU.

Freiman and former Spartan Darcy Anderson (2014, second team) are the only two swimmers to receive Academic All-America® recognition.

Freiman is a graduate student at San José State, pursuing her master’s degree in biomedical engineering with a 4.0 gpa after graduating from SJSU with a degree in biomedical engineering.

One of the best individual medley swimmers in school history, she holds the school records in the 100, 200 and 400 IM. Freiman was a 2026 All-Mountain West honoree in 200 and 400 IM, finishing fourth in the 200 and eighth in the 400 IM at the conference championships. She is the first person in school history to swim under 2 minutes in the 200 IM. She set the school record in the 100 IM in a dual meet at Stanford in January.

In the classroom, she is a four-time Mountain West Scholar Athlete, three-time Academic All-Mountain West honoree, two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree, 2025 1A FAR Academic Excellence Award selection, San José State Dean’s Scholar and 2024 CSCAA Scholar All-American.
