Amid the continuing AI-driven reminiscence scarcity, Nvidia has launched a higher-capacity RTX 5070 half for laptops. Patch notes for Nvidia’s newest 596.36 GeForce graphics driver spotlight the launch of a brand new 12GB RTX 5070 cell GPU boasting 50% extra reminiscence capability in comparison with the present 8GB model. The new 12GB trim will co-exist with the 8GB choice, giving laptop computer producers and consumers two RTX 5070 variations to select from.

The new 12GB RTX 5070 laptop computer GPU will slot in between the RTX 5070 8GB laptop computer GPU and the RTX 5070 Ti 12GB laptop computer GPU in Nvidia’s cell GPU lineup.
The RTX 5070 Ti 12GB laptop computer GPU comes with 5888 CUDA cores and 12GB of GDDR7 reminiscence working on a 192-bit interface, offering 672 GB/s of reminiscence bandwidth. The RTX 5070 8GB laptop computer GPU comes with 4608 CUDA cores and 8GB of GDDR7 working on a 128-bit interface, offering 384 GB/s of bandwidth. Given that mobile parts tend to be higher-margin than desktop add-in boards, it seems that Nvidia is reserving those relatively more costly 3GB GDDR7 modules for select strategic opportunities rather than forging ahead with an across-the-board refresh. We’ll have to see whether those parts find their way alongside more GPUs as the year progresses.
