COLUMBIA, Mo. – Head Diving coach Kyle Bogner is about to retire from teaching on the finish of the semester, head coach Andrew Grevers and the Mizzou swimming and diving applications introduced on Friday, May 1. 

Bogner served because the diving coach for the previous seven years and helped coach the Tigers’ first-ever NCAA diving champion – Collier Dyer – in his ultimate season on the helm. 

“What Kyle has meant to this program goes far beyond technical coaching; he has been a mentor and a steady hand for dozens of student-athletes. This season was a perfect reflection of his impact,” Grevers mentioned. “The growth we saw in Collier, jumping from 44th place a year ago to an NCAA Champion this March, is a direct result of the emotional and mental preparation Kyle instills in his athletes. Kyle is leaving Mizzou at the absolute top of his game, and we are forever grateful for the legacy of excellence he leaves behind.” 

Overall, throughout his time with the Tigers, Bogner helped coach eight divers to All-American standing and certified at the least 4 divers to the NCAA Championships each season. Prior to becoming a member of Mizzou, Bogner served as the pinnacle diving coach at Wyoming for 4 seasons (2014-18) and was at New Mexico State (2012-14) to begin his teaching profession. 

Now the veteran head coach turns his consideration to a unique enterprise, as he and his household transfer again up north to Montana. 

“Through much prayerful consideration, I have decided to retire from coaching at the end of the semester. My family and I have been presented with an incredible opportunity that fulfills lifelong dreams for all of us,” Bogner mentioned. “We will be moving to the mountains of Montana to serve as Directors of Mountain Gateway’s Wilderness Intensives program, a Christian non-profit using the backcountry to train and send missionaries all over the world.” 

“I am deeply grateful to Coach Grevers for giving me the opportunity to become part of the Mizzou Swim and Dive family seven seasons ago,” Bogner mentioned. “His support of diving has been unwavering, and it has been a major factor in the success we’ve experienced.”
