Wreckage of WWI Coast Guard Cutter Tampa found after 107 years

More than a century after it was torpedoed throughout World War I, the wreckage of the USCGC Tampa has been positioned off the coast of England by the British dive crew Gasperados, the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) introduced.

Divers positioned the sunken cutter about 50 miles off the coast of Newquay, Cornwall. The vessel lies greater than 300 toes deep on the ground of the Atlantic Ocean.

The discovery started in 2023 when the Gasperados Dive Team reached out to the Coast Guard historian’s workplace concerning the vessel.
