WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Co-Chairs of the House Democratic Commission on Artificial Intelligence and the Innovation Economy – Congressman Ted Lieu (CA-36), Congresswoman Valerie Foushee (NC-4), Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) – traveled to the San Francisco Bay Area for a two-day fact-finding mission to construct the Commission’s experience and solicit enter on coverage options associated to AI and the innovation economic system.

The Co-Chairs met with teachers, researchers, scientists, college students, educators, labor specialists, startup founders, corporations, and state officers to realize a deeper understanding of how AI is already reshaping the economic system, workforce, and our nationwide safety.

“If Congress is going to get AI policy right, we need to get out of Washington and hear directly from the people building, studying, and teaching it,” mentioned Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “This trip gave us an unfiltered look at the breakthroughs happening in real time, and the real risks we need to address. We came back with a clearer picture of what a strong, smart federal AI framework needs to look like.”

“I was pleased to join Reps. Gottheimer and Foushee to meet with the people working on the front lines of AI innovation and research,” mentioned Congressman Ted Lieu (CA-36). “As the AI Commission continues its work, it is critical that we learn from and speak to the practitioners who are deeply engaged with this technology and its societal impact.”

“I will always welcome the opportunity to learn more about AI development directly from leading researchers, academics, civil society experts, and educators. While many Americans have growing concerns about AI’s impact on jobs and civil rights, understanding the full scope and progression of AI is essential if we want to move forward with responsible policies that put people, labor, and human rights ahead of corporate interests,” mentioned Congresswoman Valerie Foushee (NC-4).

Congressman Gottheimer serves as a Co-Chair of the House Commission on Artificial Intelligence. The Commission is working to develop AI insurance policies that shield shoppers, staff, and nationwide safety whereas maintaining the United States on the forefront of worldwide AI innovation.

Eric Bénier-Bürckel Photography Born in Paris in 1971, Eric Bénier-Bürckel is a philosophy professor and author. He started his photographic work in 2013. His analysis, in each content material and kind, goals to query illustration, even to create unease inside it. It is primarily targeted on experimentation. “Not to record the visible, but to challenge it, to return it to the dazzling and senseless power of its appearance.” EBB “My work stems from a paradox: to creburate images, one must begin, if not by distrusting images, then at least by unlearning their obvious truths. Idol-images imprison the individual within themselves, while icon-images, on the contrary, open them up to that which transcends them. The strangeness within the image points precisely toward the outside of every image. It is this outside that, in my view, makes clichés tremble and revives the unknown they conceal. In any case, it is this outside that obsesses my photographs. Photography is therefore not, for me, a simple recording of reality; it is first and foremost a means of shaking up our domestic image of reality, composed of a patchwork of labels and stereotypes that prevent us from seeing. Photography as I practice it is neither more realistic nor surreal: it is astonishment. As for the figures that haunt my photographs, they are less established certainties than question marks that speak volumes.” the fragility of being, the stupefaction of residing.” #ericbenierburckel #pictures #photographychallenge #photographie #photooftheday #photographychallengechallengeraphychallengechallenge #photographychallengechallenge #photobooth #foto #fotografie #photographychallengeraphychallenge #photographer #blackandwhite #blackandwhitephotography
