Footage displaying a “large grizzly bear family” strolling alongside a freeway within the Canadian Rockies is real, in accordance with the photographer.

The footage, posted Friday by City of Calgary Culture and shared under, additionally reveals one among three cubs strolling upright on its hind legs, including a surreal high quality.

We reached out to the photographer, Rocco Rennie, after noting that a number of feedback have been from followers who questioned the authenticity of his footage.

“Looks like AI, the shadows aren’t quite right,” reads a high remark. “Also look at where their paws make contact with the asphalt, they don’t quite touch the road.”

The high remark reads: “Anyone else tired of looking at videos trying to decide if it’s AI?”

Rennie additionally commented, stating: “It’s real. I took the video.”

Rennie informed FTW Outdoors that he encountered the bears whereas driving to a climbing path in Kananaskis Country in Alberta, west of Calgary.

“We were on our way to a hike in Kananaskis around 8 a.m. and we saw them so I pulled over and took the video,” Rennie defined. “And after our hike we saw the same family of bears being moved by a parks truck. I’m assuming they didn’t want them there.”

Rennie texted me two further clips. One reveals the bears milling on the roadside and the opposite reveals them working in entrance of a ranger truck with lights flashing. (See display shot above.)

In the second clip, as within the clip shared by City of Calgary Culture, a yellow analysis tag is seen in momma bear’s left ear. So she’s a recognized bear with older cubs, and so they’ve most likely been encountered a number of occasions within the area.

Worth noting is that it is not unusual for bears to face on their hind legs for brief intervals. They do that to attain a greater sense of their environment.
