The objective of this report is to quantify the linkages between motorcoach-based tourism and the regional economic system within the Greater Cleveland, Ohio, space, and to doc their financial contributions in 2005.

  • About 100 firms despatched as many as 4,625 motorcoaches to the Greater Cleveland space in 2005. These buses carried roughly 34,275 in a single day visitors and 198,800 day-trippers.
  • In sum, about $24.6 million was spent on or by visitors coming to Cleveland by motorcoach in 2005. Of this, $8.9 million was spent on meals and drinks, $7.15 million on retail purchases, $5.2 million on admissions charges to points of interest, and nearly $1.3 million on arts.
  • The direct spending supported as many as 630 jobs within the native economic system. The whole financial influence of motorcoach tourism was over $16.7 million.
