2026 Piedmont Photography Show

[This is not a review, but an invitation by a local Somers’s resident]

      There is one thing for everybody on the Piedmont Photography present on Main Street in Somers, CT.  Flamingos, Dancing Bears, Ducks and a Friendly Fox are a few of the topics taken by the photographers.  Pull your head for a second out of your moveable machine and breath in a tranquil seaside, a lotus blossom, a farmhouse sundown, and a discipline of sunflowers not from Topeka, however from right here in Enfield, CT.

     These are simply a few of the human’s views out of your setting framed so that you can expertise, one thing taken from the true world that can stir your soul. According to Juror Frank Zaremba,  “ This gallery features a diverse collection of images demonstrating thoughtful use of lighting, composition, and color, along with impressive attention to detail.”

      I used to be on the opening (Presented by the Somers Cultural Commission), and was astonished by the amount of excellent pictures.  Before I seen the present, I picked up a program itemizing the entire pictures to make a couple of notes, typically assigning stars (1-5).  Many of those pictures are within the 3 to five star ranges!  I can’t think about how you may decide this present with so many high shelf pictures.

     Though I’m not a professional critic, as a neighborhood resident of Somers, I’d wish to share a few of my notes and impressions:  The artist/photographers waited only for the proper mild to light up a barn or lighthouse.  Some have captured a second that displays the current instances we’re struggling in.  The photograph “We Hold These Truths To Be…  by Arthur Backstrom reveals a younger Asian girl studying a doc as her T shirt is reflecting the American Flag throughout her chest via a pane of glass.  Another girl is photographed in profile, standing stoically exercising her proper to protest at a No Kings Rally.  Some of our native artists have traveled past the world:  from the again of a automobile restore store to a hanging mural in New Zealand or a rain bathe in Algadon.  Feel free to re-enter the true world.  I problem you to place down your machine and embrace the love of life that’s trying proper again at you from one other human being’s ardour for the world all of us share and stay in.  Who is aware of you could even take into account taking considered one of these treasured works house or to offer as a present to lift a smile.
