Manoa Pool reopens May 18 to the general public

The City will reopen the Harry Mamizuka Swimming Complex at Manoa Valley District Park on Monday, May 18, for public use after a number of enhancements had been made beginning in November 2025. Recent back-to-back Kona low storms had delayed a few of the enchancment work and in the end pushed again the reopening date.

Swimmers can use the 50-meter pool, coaching pool and the complicated’s toilet and showers once more. 

The pool enhancements included:

• Removing the previous diving blocks and changing them with new diving blocks (the brand new diving blocks had been made potential due to a $67,000 donation from the Mamizuka ‘Ohana)
• Repainting the pool bleachers
• Fixing paint inside the 50-meter and coaching pool, together with the lane traces
• In-house workers renovated the pool’s showers and bogs, due to funding from Councilmember Scott Nishimoto (this included putting in new slip-resistant flooring)

The pool complicated was beforehand closed from September 2024 till early June 2025 to deal with chipping paint on the pool floor and bleachers.

The second part addressed unresolved points from the primary part, together with paint that didn’t correctly adhere to the pool and bleachers.
