Director of Swimming & Diving Brandt Nigro Departs Army West Point for Texas

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point Director of Athletics Tom Theodorakis introduced Monday that Brandt Nigro, Director of Swimming and Diving, has accepted a place on the University of Texas.

Kelly Lennon has been named interim head coach.

“I would like to thank Coach Brandt Nigro and his family for their incredible commitment and contributions to Army Swimming & Diving over the past seven seasons,” stated Tom Theodorakis. “Brandt elevated the program’s national profile, creating a culture defined by higher standards and expectations. On behalf of Army Athletics, we thank Brandt for his commitment to excellence and wish him the best in the next chapter of his career.”

“I would like to thank Director of Athletics, Tom Theodorakis, Superintendent Steven Gilland, and everyone at West Point for their support over the last seven years. It has been my great honor to lead Army Swimming & Diving through so many incredible moments and to work with such dedicated cadet-athletes. Together, we achieved NCAA appearances, conference championships, and much more,” stated Nigro. “I will be proud of the progress and success we achieved as a program for the rest of my life. Thank you to the Army Swimming & Diving family for welcoming my family and me so genuinely.  We will carry these memories and relationships with us into this next chapter of our lives.”

Army West Point has engaged CSA (CSA Search & Consulting) to conduct a nationwide search to seek out the subsequent chief of the boys’s and ladies’s swimming and diving program. The chief will assist the Army West Point athletics mission “to recruit, educate, train, and inspire leaders of character who are committed to the Army Values through an extraordinary Division I athletics experience.”
