Reed boys’ swim crew takes fourth at state; Renwick wins 50 free

Reno High junior Jaxon Hardt, Reed junior Carter Renwick and Douglas freshman Preston Hinkle every acquired wins within the Class 5A boys state swimming and diving championships, held May 15-16 in Las Vegas.

Reed completed fourth as a crew, the most effective inserting by a Northern Nevada crew within the 5A.

Truckee was second to Boulder City within the Class 3A crew standings.

Here are the highest finishers from Northern Nevada within the state swimming and diving championships.

Class 5A State

• Reno sophomore Colin Wickwire took second within the 200 free (1:42.25)
• Galena junior Chase Lum third within the 200 free (1:42.84)
• Reno junior Jaxon Hardt gained the 100 breaststroke (58.36); and took second within the 200 IM (1:56.40);
• Reed junior Carter Renwick gained the 50 free (21.71)
• Carson freshman Jonas Massie took second within the 100 butterfly (53.71)
• Galena junior Chase Lum took second within the 100 freestyle (47.88)
• McQueen freshman Beckett Lusk took second within the 100 backstroke (54.53)
• Reed junior Ethan Swenski completed third within the 100 breaststroke (1:01.02)
• Douglas freshman Preston Hinkle gained 1-meter diving with a rating of 292.65
• Truckee senior Kyla McCarthy Smith completed third within the 100 breaststroke (1:17.83)

In the 3A

• Truckee was second within the 200 medley relay (1:51.37); Coral Academy was third (1:52.35)
• North Tahoe completed third within the 400 free relay (3:50.98)
• Coral took second within the 200 free relay (1:39.09); Truckee completed third within the 200 free relay (1:39.97)
• Sage Ridge freshman Ashton Brenner took second within the 200 IM (2:03.18); and second within the 100 breaststroke (1:02.26)
• Truckee sophomore Caleb Edwards gained the 50 free (22.37); and gained the 100 free (50.39)
• Coral Academy sophomore Yushi Kono gained the 100 butterfly (51.66); and gained the five hundred free (4:45.25)
• Coral Academy sophomore Caiden Granger took second within the 100 free (51.30); and completed third within the 100 breaststroke (1:02.67)
• Noth Tahoe senior John Lanza completed third within the 500 free (5:13.04)
• Debbie Smith sophomore Tristam Luke completed third within the 100 again (55.58)
