Why simplicity issues in images
Sigma CEO Kazuto Yamaki calls the BF “beautiful foolishness” – a phrase impressed by The Book of Tea, which celebrates the fantastic thing about simplicity over extra.
It’s much less a product slogan than a philosophy: that stripping issues again makes images extra intentional, not much less highly effective. That concept runs deep in Sigma’s identification, an organization based in 1961 by Kazuto Yamaki’s father and lengthy recognized for its distinctive, design-led method to digicam making.
You can learn extra about this in our interview with Yamaki (the place he says, amongst different issues, that he thinks he could make Sigma “a nicer brand” than Canon and Nikon, even when he cannot make it a much bigger firm).
By stripping the digicam all the way down to its necessities, the BF encourages a extra thought-about method of taking pictures. It provides one thing no feature-heavy digicam can provide in the identical method: it teaches the best way to see.
Without distractions from menus or layered capabilities, consideration naturally shifts to the basics of images – topic, gentle, composition, and timing.
In that sense, the digicam is much less about what it does for the photographer and extra about the way it will get out of the way in which. The Sigma BF is constructed for focus and intention, serving to photographers focus on the essence of images.
