Swimming and Diving Off To Sizzling Begin In Summer Competitions

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina swimming and diving program has had 5 Tar Heels competing world wide already this summer season with one other group scheduled for competitions in July and August. Ben Delmar, Ciro Mejia, Xavier Ruiz, Skyler Smith and Aranza Vazquez Montano have hit the pool for meets in May and June.

Delmar took seventh place within the 200 breast on the AP Race London International, whereas Ruiz completed fifth within the 200 IM, fifth within the 200 breast and ninth within the 100 breast on the TYR Pro Series cease in Sacramento.

Smith took half within the Mare Nostrum Swim Tour, competing within the Monaco and Canet legs. In Monaco, she completed second within the pace match and sixth within the 100 breast. At the Canet leg, Smith took second within the 50 breast and fifth within the 100 breast.

On the diving circuit, Ciro Mejia claimed fourth on the 10-meter platform on the Canadian Summer Senior Nationals.
